The Amazing Spider-Man is really stepping it up in the marketing stakes, with yesterday’s four-minute “super preview’ followed by the release of a pair of new posters.
The first new one-sheet shows Andrew Garfield as an unmasked Spidey, casting a watchful eye over the New York skyline from a lofty vantage point. The Spider-Man logo shines up from the city lights below, accompanied by the new tagline, “The untold story begins”.
Sony’s marketing team are really trying to push the idea that this is a new story, separate and different from the one told by Sam Raimi’s trilogy. Marc Webb’s film will tackle the tale of Peter’s missing parents, focusing on how his search for knowledge leads him into contact with Rhys Ifans’ Curt Connors.
The second poster offers a similar look at New York’s new Spidey-sign, with Spider-Man’s fist grabbing hold of a length of web attached to one of those nifty wrist-mounted dispensers, a nice addition to the new suit.
The Amazing Spider-Ma n opens in the UK on 4 July 2012. In the meantime, you can check out both new posters below…
