Double Fines Trenched double-timing it to XBLA on June 22

Look sharp, maggots. Double Fine’s cigar-chomping, whiskey-guzzling, flag-waving,testosterone-fueledtower defense mech game, Trenched (the first in the CigWhisFlaTestTowDefMech genre, we believe), is preparing tochew ass on theXbox Live Arcade on June 22.

Scared? You should be, Sally boy. Find out what you’ll be signing up for in this newly released cinematic:

Dripping with old fashioned wartime bravado, Trenched is billed as a hybrid %26ldquo;tower defense shooter%26rdquo; that tasks players with strapping into a heavily armed “mobile trench%26rdquo; and defending the world from the nefarious Vladamir Farmsworth and his mechanical army of brain-scrambling Monovisions. If it sounds a touch absurd, remember this is a game created by Double Fine; the same mad geniuses behind 2005’s trippy cult-hit Psychonauts, and a more recent slate of downloadable games featuring underaged monster-hunters (Costume Quest) and puzzle-solving Russian Dolls (Stacked). Double Fine is also working on a newSesame Street game for the Kinect, but we’re pretty sure that’ll be borderline crazy as well…in a PG way, of course.

Trenched is being published by Microsoft, so don’t hold out for a PSN version. It will be available on XBLA for 1,200 Microsoft Points ($15). Candy asses, limp dicks, wimps and wusses need not apply.
